Many students aspire to become a doctor. The annual increase in the proportion of students joining BiPC (PCB) is a testimony to the increasing interest of students in the medical field. But the process of becoming a doctor requires a lot of competition and money. This is due to the availability of lesser places in various state universities. Students who aspire to become doctors will either attend private medical school or go abroad to study if they fail a selection test. Medicine is one of the most popular career paths across the world including India. The road to becoming a doctor usually starts with earning an MBBS degree. But getting a medical post in India is not very competitive.
There is a huge gap between the number of MBBS places available in India and the number of applicants. Last year around 13 lakh students attempted NEET to get around 60,000 places.

Studying abroad is one of the best options for students who have not done well in NEET exam. Studying medicine abroad is comparatively cheap and has a high return on investment. There are many universities abroad that like to bring in students from different countries to create a positive co-cultural environment. Foreign universities maintain higher standards of education quality with cheaper/lower fees as compared to India.
MBBS Abroad Eligibility
Every country (and every university) has its own standards. Given below are the general guidelines for Indian students who wish to pursue MBBS abroad.
· The student must be at least 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission.
· The student must have completed 12th class.
· The student must have at least 50% in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject if the student is in the general category.
· The student must have at least 40% in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject if the student is coming from SC/ST/OBC.
· To get admission in any foreign country you have to clear NEET from 2018.
MBBS in UK
Thousands of international MBBS students in the UK every year. The duration of the study varies between four and six years. Specialist training must be completed after completing a four-year course in the desired subject area, which may last up to seven years. After completing specialist training, a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) is issued.
The UK medical curriculum consists of three phases. Below is the Imperial College London syllabus.
· In the first phase, students focus on both the scientific foundations of health and disease and the foundations of clinical practice, including early clinical exposure. The curriculum includes modules on lifestyle medicine and prevention as well as case-based learning with opportunities to conduct clinical research and improvement projects.
· During the second phase, students work towards a BSc by completing a series of modules and a supervised research project in a scientific/medical subject of their choice. It gives you the opportunity to develop your scientific knowledge and research skills and expose you to research at the forefront of the field.
· In Phase 3, students build on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the first four years of MBBS. In the hospital and community, students learn how clinical teams work together to ensure end-of-life patient care. Throughout Phase 3, great emphasis is placed on preparing students for clinical practice.
